I found a nature area near my house with a small pond. There were 2 wood duck couples hanging out. I need to go back with my tripod. These were with the 300 f/4 + 1.7 TC - tough to handhold with sharp results unless the light is perfect.

Thanks all. I am pretty excited to find a pond near my house with wood ducks. Next time, I'm bringing some support.
  7. STUNNING! Dunno if we have those around here, but WOW! Beautiful!
  8. Beautiful colors! Nice captures, Chris.
  9. Nice set Chris. These guys are a challenge to photograph as they are so skittish.

Thanks Diannne/Phil/Jim. They are a challenge to expose well. To get the colors bring, you run the risk of blowing out the whites. I've seen them in the stream near out house and they usually fly off. This pond is nice since they don't feel threatened when I am on the observation platform.

One more from this morning. There were 4 pairs of wood ducks today. I think one was nesting since it kept chasing the other ducks away from a part of the bank.

The colours in the first shot are incredible. To be honest, ducks do little to impress me, but I do like the way you captured that one.
  14. The first shot is great hand held. You set the bar very high.
