went with my wife, who shot the D100 and 70-300, Mr. Boogerman, my daughter, Birger, his daughter Leslie and her two children. I used the D2H with the 300. It was interesting to shoot with one lens and make due with what you have. At times, I used the SB800. The bird shots were thru cages.

Harris;

A productive day at the zoo! Nice to go with family and friends. The 300 really lets you get up close and personal. I just about fell over when I saw the iguana (if that's what it is). I especially like the bald eagle and prairie dog "kissing" mom (at least that's what it looks like to me).

Thanks for posting.

The flamingo(#6) is GORGEOUS!!!! The lizard thing(#7) just about looks 3-dimensional...really a cool shot! And like everyone else, the Prarie dogs are just too cute. Glad you had a nice time at the zoo...Where are the wife's pics?

Harris,

Were these using the 300 2.8? If so, was it the AF-S II or the new VR version?

Whatever the lens, the shots are awesome. You had a very good day. :wink:

Harris,

You really have a knack for close up composition. I like all of these and look forward to seeing more.

Thanks,

Thanks all for the kind comments. It was a fun day shooting with my family and a good friend and his family. The best part is getting together. Mary enjoyed the D100, I had the D2h and Birger made great use of the D2X.

There was a lady there with a D1 and 80-400vr, not a canon could be found. NIkon was well represented on Thursday.

Very beautiful shots Harris, as usual.

We have passes to the Lowry Park Zoo and the Florida Aquarium here in Tampa. They are both nice places to get some great shots.

Unfortunately my three year old knows them so well now, she can do a round trip of what she wants to see in about 30 mins and is ready to leave :D
