Not much time to play, just the D7100 & Zeiss 2/100 with the pop-up flash. Shot around f5.6-8 I still don't have manual focus down, but I am getting better... slow is smooth, smooth is fast...

Wonderful pictures, Chad.
I love especially #1.

Can you give me a little advice, how you get them that near and sharp, please?

Wow, those guys let you get really close! Nice job!

Thanks Jim! They felt sorry for me with my manual focus lens and complete inability to use it correctly.

These are beautiful, Chad!

Thanks Dossy!

Thank Klaus!

Near - You can't get near them, you have to let them get near to you. I find an area where they are flying and wait. They are quite bold, and if you scare one away they usually come back to the same spot at least once so be patient. They also like to bask in the sun, so decide how you want it to affect your lighting, kneel and wait. I do have a secret weapon that I will share - get one of these.

Sharp - Honestly, with manual focus, I am still working on that. With the 105VR I relied on AF and VR which worked great. But I sold the 105VR and decided to keep the Zeiss to fill that range...

Really excellent work! Great compositions!

Looks like you nailed focus on these!

Thanks Karen! I'm getting better with it.

Sometimes these can be handy as well, and you don't need to carry them in
your hand...

For you married guys these come in handy later as well when asking if you
can buy that new lens...

 I keep my pad on a 'biner, but you are right, those would be handy.

Just when I think you can't get any better, you post these awesome shots. That first one is fantastic.

Thanks Donna!

Thank you Chad for the explanation.
