Fantastic, Mike! Gives new meaning to "the best part of waking up". But, what I really want to know is, how do you get them to pose with the appropriately colored backgrounds? You've got some well trained front yard birds there!

No fair Mike
You got them trained and those that are not trained are stuffed, I just know it....
Her I am with a little bird feeder .. Not place to set things up. Got a cardinal family and can't get pics. Well I have one pic of a male cardinal.. but not good enough.
I don't think I even like you anymore...(no less though)...rofl

Further more I am not going to tell you how beautiful these are:>)))))

My question to Mike is how do you have your camera ready with you all the time? Do you keep it by your bedside too when you go to bed? The first goldfinch and the female cardinal are just outstanding.

That's a super series, but the red cardinal is staggeringly good. Great work.

Thanks all for the kind words. all these guys are so used to me I sit in my chair coffee in one hand ipod fro some nice morning music, I believe Jackson Browne that day and they act like I don't exist. I could spend hours out there and would if Lorrie and the kids didn't keep coming out and reminding me I have things to do!

Beautiful photos Mike. The lighting is very good. Did you use a Better Beamer on these?

This a fantastic collection of images. Many thanks for posting.
I assume it is 300 2.8 + TCEII 2.00 in action.
Are you using a flash extender with SB800 here?

Thanks,
