Long winded post...
I photographed a wedding ceremony this last Saturday evening using the EM5 and the PL5. I'd say the equipment performed beautifully. During the ceremony I used the 12-35 and the 35-100 along with Nikon strobes fired with Pocket Wizards. I had an advantage in that there were no restrictions on lighting - whatever I thought I needed was OK. The timing and location put the ceremony in deep shadow so I used two strobes fired into umbrellas for fill lights. In the background you can see I also used one other strobe to light up the colored shutters behind the participants. Later, as the sun disappeared, I switched to the 25mm Pan/Leica lens. The ambient light was only some Christmas lights strung through the trees and one overhead yard light - not much... I lit the dance floor with two strobes firing across the corners of the floor. I had enough light from the strobes to shoot at f/3.2 and 1/40 to 1/80 second at ISO 1600. Hindsight as me thinking I should have put the ISO at 800 and opened the aperture a stop. I tried using the 35-100 since it's aperture fell within that range but discovered that the 25mm focused much faster in the conditions I was shooting. I hadn't thought about it before but I'm assuming that the M43 cameras focus with the lens aperture wide open and then stops down when the shutter is pressed - like the DSLRs which would of course explain why the 25 did so much better.
I was very mindful of how this camera system might compare with the last wedding I shot using a D700 along with the 50/1.4, 85/1.4, and 70-200 - I know very well that there are times when my current cameras and lens might not be suitable but as long as I know (and stay) the limitations of this system I'm convinced you can achieve professional quality photography.
I'd welcome any comments on the results or my observations.
