Seriously getting into bird photography so I thought I'd pick up an affordable serious lens.
Shot with the D300s and a used Sigma 500 f4.5.
Still handholding this sucker trying to improve long lens technique.
May eventually end up getting a monopod as I tend to be mobile most of my sessions and sometimes need the stability.
Good idea or should I go with a tripod instead?
Anyways, enjoy.

Keep pluggin away, I like the Coopers. The only problem is when the shutter speeds get seriously low. I have both a tripod and a monopod, and I prefer the tripod because shutter speeds are an issue with my lens...the only problem is being out on a boardwalk and having people go by...impossible shooting with a tripod, way too much vibration.

Thanks for the comments and advise.
Hoping to catch more of the Cooper's as they are nested around that area.
