This is a KOOKUBURRA
Information from Websters Dictionary.

Etymology: Wiradhuri (Australian aboriginal language of central New South Wales) gugubarra
: a brownish kingfisher (Dacelo novaeguineae syn. D. gigas) of Australia that is about the size of a crow and has a call resembling loud laughter -- called also laughing jackass.

Very difficult to spot her 99 percent of the time. She is 11 months old. Mostly hiding in the foliage at the zoo. Flies free in the aviary.

For Dao and I she put on a nice show Laughing and all..
Probably at us with those silly black things we carry :>)))

Unfortunately her place to land was less thn a pretty background.

Used spot metering on this. 24-120 VR at 120 mm. Hand held.

Thank you very much for the nice critique on the outcome.

Much appreciated.

Gale :

Nice shots.

I'm sure you can process these to address the background. Do you remember that you had processed a Kookaburra shot of mine a bit back ? You did an exemplary job (and I wish I'd saved the image). Just apply that same level of brains to these ones.
