There was a lot to photograph at the Huntley Meadows marsh this morning. The Great Egrets were pretty active and gave me a lot of practice opportunity to get the exposure right.

The Great Blue Heron was very cooperative.

The two Great Egrets were fun to watch.

They gave me a few nice flight opportunities.

This was the first Green Heron for me.

There were even 4 Pilated Woodpeckers nearby. This was as good as I could get.

    Chris,

See, if I would have gone with you this morning as we planned, none of those birds would have been there! What a difference between this morning and the last time we went - where were they then? I did get to make hay in West Virginia this morning - boy was it hot!

I am really glad to see that you got these great shots! I hope they are their next time we get to go. Well done.

Thanks guys. Every so often, the birds cooperate.

Mark - these were taken right by the beaver lodge. Walk past the observation tower, down the normal path and then take a small path on the right for about 20 yards. There is a smaller pond right in front of the beaver lodge and it appears to be a nice place for these guys to hang out.

Thanks Phil, Cliff, Jeff and Gale. My last few times out were rather sparse and I'm glad I found a good spot.
