A strange flower !

I saw this flower with a big hole in each petals, so I grabbed the V1, which had the new 70-300 CX attached, and shot it !

Nikon V1 + CX 70-300 @ 300mm. - 1:800 @ f/7.1 handheld (300mm in CX is equivalent to 810mm in FX !)

That is an odd one. Can't think of an insect that would do such a thing. Must be some adaptation, but I wonder why & how it works. Great picture.

I'd like to know WHAT happened to this flower.... as there were other of the same kind, but none had these holes !?!
