A trip on the Zambezi River

Discussion in 'Wanderlust and Travel' started by johnaalex, Dec 6, 2017.

  1. To be honest this boat trip was a bit of a disappoint until the last 15 minutes. We were hoping to get some actual views of Victoria Falls but this was not the case, all we could see was the spray from the falls which is visible for miles. The hippos were fun to watch but the real highlight was as we were heading back to the berth and a bull elephant decided to swim across the river right in fron of us. An amazing sight that I won't forget.

    All comments welcome, thank you.

What a memorable experience! Looks like you had threatening weather.

  5. Thanks for the nice comments.

Karen - there were a number of thunder storms in the area. Later in the evening we witnessed one of "biblical proportions"!

    Hi John,

may I ask you if you have visited the Victoria Falls?
Is it true these are the only falls that have a rainbow at full moon?

    Thank you in advance
    Klaus

  7. Klaus - I iwll be posting my shots of Victoria Falls soon. As for the rainbow at full moon I have not heard that but given the amount of spray generated by the falls I would not be surprised that, if it wasa bright full moon on a clear night, a rainbow would be visible. I would assume that might be the case for other falls, but I would love to witness the effect and even better, get a good shot of it.

Nice shooting johnaalex. We are headed to Victoria Falls, what are your suggestions to see?

  11. If you can, then stay at the Victoria Falls hotel. If you are not staying there then it is worth a visit, maybe for lunch or dinner. The fine dining restaurant there is very good but not open on Sundays for some strange reason.

Also if you have time you might be able to do a day safari at Hwange National Park.
