A walk in the woods...(another)

Went for a walk in the high country to the west of here yesterday, on Salt Pond Mountain, at about 4000 feet. Flora very different up there.

The flame azaleas were prolific and the most intense colors I've ever seen, beginning with yellow:

I love the ferns against the rocks. I used to live in Philadelphia and did hiking and backpacking in the Appalachian Mountains. Your pictures remind me of the Great Smokies.

Pa, what a lovely hike. Thank you for taking us along. Are those azaleas at the end? The mountain laurel puts me in mind of Connecticut, where I used to live.
