I have recently really started to take shots with the intent through PP to make moody, stark, contrasty(maybe even harsh) black and whites to try leave the viewer in deep though(or at least some though...) . I didnt see another thread dedicated to this, so Im going to start my own and if you feel lead, join in! Im also looking for some C&C if you have the time to give it on any individual shot. Thanks for looking

    Looks good Chris

Following along with your one prime challenge inspired me to give this style a hard look for creativity. I know its not everyones cup of tea but hopefully others will join in also.

    Holmes,
I really like this. As a fisherman I see stuff like this all the time and you start to grumble as you know what is below the surface line. It is something obscure and seemingly uninteresting to the laymen but you have really captured something great here.I like how the branch is just barely touching the water and the even reflection you got, the PP really fits. Well done.

  13. Uh-Oh, Tim! You may have opened a Pandora's box as far as I'm concerned since this is just about my favorite type of photography. I hope I don't inundate this thread with too much of my stuff! Some is digital, some film, some with Nikon, Olympus or Mamiya:

Inundate away Ray! You are a master of this genre! I'm glad to see more of the Exit series too!

Ray, as Chris said; Fire away!

The ones that jump out at me the most are the stairs and door. Get the gears in my head turning on why did you choose this composition and did you have black and white in mind as you pulled the trigger. I also like the exit one, its the lines of the floor along with the light on the floor that grab the views attention.

  18. The stairs and door were shot on b&w film. Generally I see photographically in black and white anyway. The composition on the stairs included the bar to break up potential monotony (and act as a counterpoint to the shadows immediately below) and the skewed angle for the same reason. The door shot was done to keep the sunlit area continuous across the frame from the right diagonally to the upper left. By the way I had to wait a month or two with multiple visits to get the light that I wanted for my doors in the alley series. Pretty much the same for the stairs. So these are not the casual shots that they might seem.

  19. Here are a couple of mine. Shot with a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 since I haven't really tried any abstracts with my Nikon.
