This isn't really a macro, just a huge crop of a D2x file blown up to 200%. It's not your typical flower image, but it is an orchid. Despite no greenery,
I still think this is the right forum.

    original.

I was playing around with a close-up of an orchid when I decided to keep enlarging the center to see what would happen. I loved the result! The only post-processing on the original image was sharpening and some levels tweaks. To get this image I just enlarged to 200%, did a huge crop, and converted to sRGB for the web. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do. Thanks for looking!

Nikon D2x, 70-200/2.8 VR and 12mm extension tube, handheld. Original image taken at Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia.

  2. Beautiful! It looks like a controlled abstract effect, Gordon. You should enter it in the Cafe Challenge!

  3. Cool Gordon, it's kind of hard to beat mother nature even in abstracts.
