Accidental "Macro" - Red Flowers

I was playing around a bit last evening, simulating the newly announced, relatively low cost, Canon RF telephoto lenses that are a fixed aperture at f11. (They are a 600mm for $700, 800mm for $900.) I used my 70-200 with a 2x converter, thus giving me a 400mm and I set aperture priority mode at f11 (actually f5.6 but with the converter ...) It actually worked pretty well. I was surprised at the shots I got at f11 that looked pretty nice.

I was standing a few feet away from a flower pot on our porch, and took this picture of some of my wife's flowers.

For not being a "macro" lens, I was somewhat struck by how nice this came out. The background (really our yard/grass) looks especially nice to my eyes. This was shot handheld so there may be a bit of motion blur, but overall I was quite surprised.

I have no need or desire to go mirrorless, but if I did, based on this simulation, I don't think I'd be scared of looking closer at these fixed f11 lenses as it looks like they may offer a lot of bang for the buck(s)!!
