actuations

    I'm selling my Nikon D70 and someone asked about actuations. I downloaded Opanda, which someone said is really good and would show this. Since I was selling the camera and have a new one, there were no pictures on it and it's been formated. But I did take one pic to see what info would show up. Someone said that this file: Exif IFD Pointer = Offset: 236, tells the actuations. I'm sure 236 isn't correct, so where would I find the info? Thanks
     
  2. In Opanda IExif v. 2.3 under the "EXIF" tab, near the bottom (5th line from bottom), there is a field called: "Total number of Shutter Releases for Camera".
    Be sure to use Opanda with an original JPG file from the camera.

    I believe your photoshop elements is stripping that info. Like frits mentioned, opanda a straight-out-of-cam pic.
     
  6. I was having the same problem. I loaded an image from my CF card that was in a card reader directly into Opanda and found the actuation count.

    Born in Europe
    The clue is in the datum name of each - the shutter releases will include the times, such as pre-WB, that the shutter is operated but you don't have an image to show for it, whilst the image count is the number of image files created.
