Read this TechNote from Adobe. They have discontinued ImageReady in the CS3 release. Here is an excerpt from the TechNote.
Adobe ImageReady has been discontinued. Most of its core features have been included in Adobe Photoshop CS3. This document is provided as a guide to help users locate ImageReady CS2 features that have been included in Photoshop CS3. In cases where a feature is not available in Photoshop CS3, the location of equivalent features in Adobe Fireworks CS3 is listed.
I know a lot of people use ImageReady to prepare images for the web.

  2. I get the impression from something someone said elsewhere(vague or what) that Imageready CS2 and PS CS3 could co-exist but I doubt if they could exchange jobs.
