so i've finally decided to buy a quick-release clamping plate. my largest lens is the 300mm f/2.8 AIS. do i need the standard length plate or the longer plate? is the lever clamp prone to accidental release over a knob?

i'm leaning towards a reallyrightstuff b2 lr II, but i'm open to alternatives.

I have the lever release and so far no problems. The longer plate will help to get the camera / lens center of gravity over your ball head. I use both RRS and Kirk products and they are both very good.

I also have the lever release, in fact, two of them; I have one on my Monopod also. Combined with the L plate it's a great set-up.
