Aerials - Bradenton to central Florida

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by vulturetec, Aug 5, 2009.

  1. Another in my series of aerial adventures in Florida. Shot with a mix of a D200, D300, Nikkor 50/1.8, Nikkor 135/2.8, and Nikkor 300/4.

Starting in Bradenton, well south of Tampa, on the Gulf Coast is Bradenton Beach. This was one of the few sunny places we had:

The inland-side of the Bradenton Beach Pier. The Pier points away from the Gulf of Mexico on the Sarasota Bay side of Bradenton.

Just south of St Petersburg is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge - opened in 1987.

No traffic jams here on the Crosstown Expressway just east of Tampa

Passing through the Zephyrhills area east of Tampa we skirted some rain. Typical Florida rain shower. I've walked to the end of the street to see it raining and walked back without getting wet. This little shower offered a rainbow.

Also near Zephyrhills is a pretty sizeable plant nursery

Cattle Country? Once you move away from the coasts Florida turns into miles of agriculture. Farms, pigs, cows...it was open range like the "wild west" until 1949. Dunno what this is but it looks like cattle land to me.

Closer to central-Florida is Lake Minnehaha, and on the western part of the lake you can find Cypress Cove Marina along with old Cypress trees, Spanish Moss, and no doubt a few mosquitos.

Just outside of Orlando in Clermont is the 1956-vintage "Citrus Tower". It's one of the original roadside attractions in Florida and used to be surrounded by miles of Orange groves.

  2. Excellent set as always. Been to the Skyway Bridge and to Bradenton. Never visited the Citrus Tower.

  3. Real nice scenery.

  4. Great set. I really enjoyed the pictures.
