The 28-70mm f/2.8 EX D DF has 9 rounded blades. The newer DG version has 9 flat blades. I know both versions of the 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG (original and Macro) both have 9 blades but I'm not sure if they're rounded.
Holmes,
You know what they say. Picture is worth a thousand words. Please please attach some pic sample from this lens at 35, 50 and 70mm. Preferably portrait, but if not, it's OK too. I want to see the bokeh.
BTW, I'm surprised PhotoZone does not have a review of the 35-70mm lens. How do we get them to review lens. Wait until they get lots of request/demands to review any lens?
Leo
George: Yes I've seen the review, but thanks. However, I still need images from the lens. BTW, I see that you have the AF-S 24-85 f/3.5-4.5G ED. How do you like this lens? What do you use it for? And most importantly, would you share some images from this lens at 24, 50 and 85mm and all at it's max aperture. if it's not too much to ask.
Does anyone know if there's a benefit in image quality (or anything) for a lens using 9 aperture blades than 7?
Leo
I had the 24-85mm F2.8-4 for two years. It was very ok until I got into the backlight. I love the focal lengths of that lens. I had the slower version and it was completely awful. I only had it for two days because it was for the dentist's receptionist.
Why don't you buy it, take some pics and decide for yourself?
Or, get a real pro lens, like the Beast? That is what I will be doing because I am through with cheap zooms. The zoom I have now has very little flare, if any and it is perfect for the beach. Once in a while there is an obscure zoom lens that will meet my needs. but prime lenses are always in my kit.
