af assist illumination

    On my D200 the af-assist lamp is not working. I've tried everything mentioned in the manual and still no luck. Any other ideas or possibilities?

    Make sure the AF selector is set to "S" and the AF mode is set at SINGLE point.

    Sorry that didn't help...did you try a two button reset?

    Did'nt want to, but I went ahead and did it anyway. Still nothing. Thanks again Phil. Can't imagine what else is left to try.

    Double-check menu item a9.

    Also, is your lens wider than 24mm?

    Checked it. I tried all of my lenses from the 12-24 to my 300 f/4. With and without the lens hoods. No luck.
