AF Fine Tune... @ 300mm f2.8

I have a technique question regarding AF Fine Tune, but on a long scale. I've set up a simple small scale AF Fine Tune test before for other lenses. Does anyone have a recommended setup for 300mm f2.8? I want to test close focus as well as long focus, so this will obviously need to be done outdoors. I was thinking hash marks on a football field, but I can't find a nicely painted field this time of year. I've tried it along fences but I can't find fencing with enough contrast to get consistent focus points.

I'm open to any and all ideas.

I recommend the LensAlign Pro to check the AF Fine Tune for your lenses. I use this setup for all of my lenses on both bodies, and it works great on the 300/2.8.
