Shot these today, D300 and the 55-200 kit lens from a D40X kit. The lens worked but not as fast at focus as I would have liked but it was all I had to use.

Nice set Mike.

I shot some of the Red Arrows last Friday using a Sigma 70-300 APO and I also found that the focus was sometimes hunting. I found that if I pre focused on a distant object it helped to get focus on the planes quicker.

Nice work, last time I went to an airshow I was using my Fuji S3000 compact camera, trust me, that has really SLOW af.
