Yesterday I popped down to one of our local beaches as the RAF were performing beach landings.

1 - Reccy flight over beach first.

WOW what a great set of pictures. I'm normally not impressed by pics of planes but you have a real eye for compositions with planes, best set I ever saw
#6 belongs on the front page

This was me on the beach. Lens hood removed as it was acting as a sail in the strong cross winds..

Wonderful shots, each and every one!!

A bit sad to see our friends in the RAF buying something other than the USA-produced C-130 ... but I guess it's totally understandable.

We still run the C130 and will do for a fair time yet, it is a well proven workhorse.

Excellent choice on the aperture & shutter speed to accomplish both clarity and just enough prop blur.

Superb Barry. And lucky you! Nice to see the RAF working on a Thursday, eating, as it does, into their weekend.

Which beach was this? Clearly ideal for the job and, on the day, not so dry that you end up covered in sand and shingle. Perfect.

Barry, this is an amazing series of photos! I love taking aviation photos and am hard to impress, but these are spectacular. Well done and thanks for sharing!

This is a remote beach in south wales, where you have to trek through forest about 4 miles to get there. The only road access is through MOD property, so no access for us.

Hi Barry,
the mach loop is on my bucket list for next 2 or 3 years. Hopefully we can meet then...

Kind regards
Klaus

Hi Klaus, The Mach Loop is still active, but over the past year it is seeing less and less activity, hopefully it will pick up again, but at the moment the best place to see regular low level flying is The Lake District.
