Alligator in the wild

Discussion in 'Birds' started by dmwphoto, Oct 18, 2005.

  1. Nearly stepped on this bad boy while shooting snowy egrets.
After regaining my composure, I set up and took this. Had my 200-400 and TC 1.4 on and He was a tad close. Again this image has not been put thru photoshop or capture yet, but wanted to share it anyways.

Wow Dave. Pretty good object lesson about being careful where you step for sure.

Nice capture BTW, even though I can detect a little camera shake, even with the VR.

Wow, what a guy. I once rented a canoe in a swamp in southern Georgia. The alligators were all over and when I got near in the canoe they just dived under water. I felt it a little uncomfortable though. Great shot.

  5. Torben,
Thanks for having a look. I did also post one beach shot at sunrise in the landscapes section. Not as good as what you put up but I still got a few days to keep trying :^)

  6. Wow, that was close, much too close for comfort.

  7. Nice shot!

Although I think a little more DOF wouldn't hurt...

That's a scary thing to have happen to you! My mother is from Florida and tells a story of Alligator tipping a boat over that her Uncle was in while he was checking on a trot line. He got away safely, but he never checked the lines in a boat after that...

    Glad you are safe...BE CAREFUL!!!!
