The modern version of the ancient ceremonial procession to ask Tlaloc for favorable rain, now dedicated to the Lord of the Mount (Jesus), The Altepehuitl is a fascinating example of prehispanic ritual with colonial and contemporary syncretism.
This Sunday was such an event at the top of the hill in Papalotla, Tlaxcala, some 10 minutes drive outside of Puebla city. I was fortunate enough to be regarded as a press photographer, and being in that privileged position, took several pictures which I share with you today.

Sadly, my zoom lens is manual-focus on my camera, and manual focusing in the D3200 can be a pain. So please forgive some lack of focusing mojo...
