I am thinking of selling my 24-70... and using only the Nikon 50mm 1.4 AF-S :biggrin::biggrin:

Have I lost my mind??

no, and think of what you can buy with all the extra money you will have
  3. Yes. I've decided to go in the other direction and am considering selling my only two primes.

Crazy yes. Not for selling the 24-70 but for buying the 50 AF-S instead of the previous model

No way!!! The AFS version is insanely sharp... I am very happy with the quality of the images.

Don, My humble recommendation..... especially if you don't need the ca$h for another NAS attack, is to put the 24-70 away for awhile and just pretend you sold it. Seriously! You'll soon find out if you really need it or not.... it seems that I always need the item I got rid of, almost immediately.

    yep yep yep :m58:
  8. You're insane. I hate my 50mm f1.4, and want a 24-70mm so bad after using a friends copy.

    No, not certifiable.

But I surely would not do it! My 50 /1.4 barely gets out of the case; the 24-70 is "glued too tightly to remove" from the D3.

    Yes you are .

To tell the truth: I absolutely love my 24-70, and normally I would never let it go.
  11. Come on Doc you don't really want to sell that 24-70, so why do you ask? :m03:
  12. Keep the zoom and just pick up a 50/1.8. Then you'll get the best of both worlds!

OK... you guys are right!! I'm keeping it...

  14. I sold my 24-70 and my 70-200 and don't miss them at all. Way to big and heavy. I use my 20mm and 50mm and love it.

Ed, that chart is full of great information. I have not tried the 50mm AF-S, but thought the 60mm af-s was extremely sharp. According to the chart the 50 is even sharper. It must be a really sharp lens. Those photos are great.
  16. I wouldn't ever give up my 24-70. Especially not for the AF-S 50.
