Fun weekend at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham, AL. Really bright weekend with no clouds, so fast shutter speeds but harsh shadows. Take a look and C&C, I have thick skin so let 'er rip. Need input from others. All shots with D2x and Tokina 300 2.8 in HSC mode.

    1. Tried slow shutter pan at 160th.

    2. Matt Mladin and Ben Spies in a class all to themselves on Saturday.

    3. Miguel Duhamel and Aaron Yates out of turn 1.

    4. Mladin and Spies again.

    5. Roger Lee Hayden.

    6. John Haner turn 7.

    Thanks for looking.
  2. Good job Jeff.

I noticed the high shutter speed shots were at ISO 400. Dropping to ISO 100 would let you drop the shutter speed and get a little blur in the wheels like the first one. Just a thought.
  3. #2 is awesome, love the heat wave effect and the grass from the knee flying around. Focus doesn't look spot on there though, maybe a pass through the unsharp mask to seperate the riders even more?

    Great pics though

Wow these are good, but I agree that maybe your settings could be tweaked allowing you achieve the perfect shots that you are striving for. The action in these shots is remarkable, keep up the great shooting and bring more images back for us to view.

Thanks Guys, I really appreciate ya'll looking. This fall I will try more with the slower shutter. I also need to learn some basic PP to maybe get a little more POP! out of em.
