Amazing they may be. Hard to tell because of the lack of detail in them though.

dark eyes do not have the same kind of details as light eyes...

I agree...there is very little you can do to enhance these. You could just add a slight color to them through PS.

Of course. Was just stating its hard to tell from the picture how nice her eyes are. Maybe a bit of fill light would've helped bring out some details.

  6. One doesn't have to have detail in their eyes for them to be amazing...however I do agree, they could benefit from some fill light. I was still really green when I took that one...I didn't even have an external flash. I just think her eyes are deep.

  7. Is this better?

The eyes of a child always see more than we think and most of the time more than they should. yes they are amazing

  9. I used PS a little...check it out...is that better?

  10. she is very pretty
and you are right about her eyes
the problem here is that what YOU saw... is not what WE see... in that the image is OOF... especially HER RIGHT EYE

but, she is a very lovely little girl
i am happy for the thread

IF you will allow... i'd like to post a redo of her eyes as well
but... ONLY if it is ok with you, FIRST

  13. That looks really great!! How did you do that? PS? I actually didn't see your request to alter the photo...sorry...by all means, feel free to alter this one!!

  14. garon....
    thanks for your kind words
i was afraid to post it without your prior permission
i meant you no disrespect in doing so

    HOW i did it:
    photoshop CS2
    shadows and highlights at 25%
    increased the contrast by 8%
sharpened the whole image at 90/0.9/2 (USM)
    then...
    lassoed each eye, individually
shadows and highlights at 30% and sharpened again by the same settings above

then... i increased the saturation a bit... 7% or so

the eyes might be a bit OVERdone... but, since you made "THEM" the title of the whole thread... i really wanted them to be the STAR of this image

i greatly appreciate the opportunity to work on this image and post my result here
    thank you

she is a beautiful girl and you took a wonderful portrait

Way overdone IMO. Dark eyes like that are real tough. It's really important to get the light on them when you take the shot. On the SOOC you can dodge them a little to help but it's no substitute for having the light in the first place. It's tough especially when you tweak the contrast like I do. Dark eyes can disappear fast.
