Yes, even in America, we honor the crown. But here, commoners can wear a golden crown. Usually on a molar, however.

This one came off Saturday afternoon at an SAS store, and I don't think I bit down on it afterwards.

I had the Macro lens ready, thanks to a visitor, so I was able to get some identification shots. This was a stack of about 7 "focus stack" pictures.

Hope the dentist will take me in tomorrow.

It is a bit tricky. I don't have a macro rail. Like the mechanism that moves a slide under a microscope. Twist the knob and the camera moves by tiny fractions of an inch.

What I do is I leave the camera on the tripod, and move the focus on the lens. There is a slight difference in size of some of the components in the scene -- like the outer edges themselves!

I do a three-step merging. Maybe too involved, but 1) load images into a stack, just put them in layers of one file. 2) auto-align the layers (first select all of them) with auto sizing/moving/stretching. 3) only now blend the layers (as stack vs, pano). It's interesting that at step 2 the whole canvas size grows and some layers hang out into nothing.. Don't know if having a focus rail would help.
