American Kestrel

Discussion in 'Birds' started by Bobby1949, Feb 6, 2019.

  1. I was fortunate to capture this little raptor while walking a trail at a nearby park. I met this nice lady during the walk that spotted a bird fly into a squirrel's nest. The little bugger was hard to see as it was hidden in the big nest. But, after a few minutes, it decided to perch on the limb above. Lucky me. The light was pretty good too, for being in the woods.

  2. Some great shots.

  3. I just love kestrels but they are hard to shoot, so tiny, you did well!

  4. You really got good captures.

  5. I too love kestrels. These little raptors are fierce hunters and can be found on wires everywhere, but are hard to find on a nice perch. You've managed to do that. Nicely done..And, they are very difficult to catch in flight!

  6. Great work!

  7. Thanks all. I went back last night and found it again. Not as close as before, but the little raptor showed its lovely colors well in a poor light situation.

  8. I love those colors! Great job.

  9. Thanks Dan. Definitely one of the more colorful raptors.
