Hi All,
I was at VanDusen Gardens looking for the pair of bard owls when I was alerted to an odd duck by another photog who wondered what this white fellow was. I was stumped so I am posting the pics here to see if any of the experts can id the duck.
I think it is a hybrid duck. it is quite large ie larger than a mallard. the girl in the BG is a mallard. She seemed to be hanging out with him so perhaps they are a breeding pair.
It seems to me that it may be a mix of snow goose and northern pintail. Th pintail from the light tan patch on the chest and the snow goose from the white body.
Does anybody know what this odd duck is?
#1 the odd duck and his friend
#2 showing the wings.
Cheers,
