Not wanting to favour one daughter over the other...

My wife thinks the crop is too tight... I am not sure (you've got to love those eyes!).

Your thoughts?

Paul

workflow:
simple in this case
auto level, contrast, and color
sharpened at 120/1.2/1
lassoed each eye, individually
shadows and highlights of the eye only at 25% with a subsequent 80/0.8/3 sharpening

Megan is SO cute
and.... her eyes.... i wanted to "spotlight" those eyes
maybe it's a bit too OVER THE TOP
i hope that your wife won't mind my tinkering, either

Much improved in terms of sharpness and white balance, Greg. But the sharpening artifacts in the whites of her eyes are shows their treatment has been greatly overdone.

Thanks for taking the time Greg - I like the idea of sharpening to bring out the eyes... I will give it a go on some of my other shots of the girls.

a bit, over the top, as i mentioned above
didn't spend enough time

i'd be happy to be much more exact about it, if paul would like

Here's my take on it.

With Sonyam's eye pop tutorial.

All around Europe. Mostly.
Paul, that's a very cute shot of your daughter. I also like the tightness of the crop - works very well.

I'm hesitating on how much critique you want on the shot because the post doesn't have the c&c icon on it, but as I don't have much to say, I'll just put it here and hope you find it ok.

1) As has been mentioned by others, the shot seems overall quite soft. Perhaps the focus was a bit too close to you?

2) Another thing you might consider is to adjust the crop slightly towards left. I believe the picture would be stronger with equal amount of 'free space' between both eyes and the respective borders. Maybe you could also move the crop a bit upwards? I find the shirt a bit distracting. The best is to just try. I might be wrong with this without trying it myself.

3) Greg blew out some parts of the shot with his edit, and also the edited wb seems to be corrected somewhat too much (looks too blue to me - this often makes skin look non-healthy). Watch out for these if you make a new edit.

That's it  Happy shooting!

Now, THAT works for me!

Can you share what you did with the eyes?

Thanks,

Paul

What an adorable shot! Looks like my eye pop was mentioned....that's about all I would change outside of a slight brightening in levels or curves.
