Anne, available light

  1. This week I received my Ai-S 85mm f/1.4 lens. I only have taken a few quick shots with it, but I like what I see - very much!

This is a a snapshot of my better half with the lens wide open. Needless to say that manual focusing like this needs to be very precise.

wonderful shot Frits! did you get rid of your AF 85?

  3. Nice golden light Frits. I dont know that yoour focusing was that bad, I think it's more the shallow DOF. The eyebrows and lashes look good to me.

  4. Thanks Logan!
After checking out the 2 versions of the 85 / 1.4, I figured that the manual focus version's quality was very close to the legendary AF version. I liked the AF version a lot, it is one of Nikon's finest, but my appreciation for Ai(S) lenses won .
So, I let the AF version go and got an Ai-S version that is in pristine condition. I have not tried it beyond a few snapshots yet, but I like very much what I see.
I am anxious do get to know it better.

Very beautiful Frits. I have decided to sell/trade my 85 f1.4 and I have mixed emotions about it.
