I'm hoping someone can confirm my identity of Aeshna mixta?
D300, 60mm AF-S, hand held
Super shots. Definately an Aeshna mixta. The first 5 shots are males. I've been trying to get a mating shot of them for the last couple of weeks without luck. How unfair.
Thank you Torben. It was a glorious late summers day today and I saw quite a few of these basking in the sun. I think I was extra lucky with the pair though!
A mixta has this (golf) tee like marking on Segments 1-2 which makes it easy to ID
Spectacular images, the detail is first rate, also the lighting.
Great serie you-ve got here!!
Loved the third one!!!
Oh my those are very nice, 1& 3 are great, but the last one is a wall hanger.
Thanks for the nice comments everyone.
