Perfect composition and conversion to monochrome. Also a perfect choice for monochrome. I love that the interesting areas of the sky are in exactly the right places so they don't interfere with the strong lines in the image.
Thank you, Mike. I used the radial gradient in LR to lighten the tug against the background of the container ship. I was dissatisfied with a color photo of the tug passing the container ship (not the same photo) that I posted in the CS/Free theme thread because I couldn't adequately disengage the tug from the background.

Thank you, Karen! Here in the DC area, there's little opportunity to photograph real ships and docks, so whenever I have occasion to go to Baltimore, I take advantage of a genuine working port. Good vantage points are along the seawall around Fort McHenry.
