Critique Another Red Bordeaux

Sep 13, 2007
Northern VA suburb of Washington, DC
When a wine label as beautiful as this one has so much detail, I like to photograph it up close and use focus stacking to sharply display the detail throughout the image. The wine is made from the traditional Bordeaux grapes -- Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot -- plus the unusual Carmenere.

The tabletop is charcoal fabric and the background is black velvet. A large sheet of translucent vellum between the flourescent ceiling lamp and the scene brightened the parts of the label in gold leaf and added the reflections to the bottle below the label.

Focus Stacking
Eight focus-bracketed captures at CamRanger Mini step size "Medium" were focus-stacked using Helicon Focus default settings.
