Ant Eater

  1. While in Charleston, S.C., the aquarium was having a show on the Amazon. While walking outside, we came upon this creature which the staff was allowing to get some exercise and eat a few bugs. First time seeing an Ant Eater up close.

    Beautiful Image.

There must be different varieties of Ant Eaters. The one at our zoo is huge.

That is a strange looking animal. I've never seen one either. It looks much more smooth-furred than I expected.

    Very nice shot.
  6. Gil,

Nice shot of an unusual animal! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
  7. Thank you every one for the nice comments. And, yes, we did watch it move for sometime. The front claws are curved so the animal walks on its knuckles, like a sloth. He uses his nose to smell out small insects. He found a few grubs and was very happy with his meal. Very slow in movement, but fascinating to watch.
