Antarctica #10 - Penguins in the Falklands

Discussion in 'Birds' started by bobhoge, May 14, 2005.

  1. Rockhopper Penguins were cute little guys that were very aptly named since they usually hopped instead of walking. They were nesting on New Island:

They looked really strange with the yellow stripes over the red eyes and the odd feathers sticking out of their foreheads:

They were the only penguins we saw with small chicks:

On Carcass Island we saw Magellanic Penguins. They nest in underground burrows and can suddenly pop up in front of you:

Trip information is posted in Places to Shoot here https://www.nikoncafe.com//forums/viewtopic.php?t=3916
