Antarctica #5 - More Penguins In Antarctica

Discussion in 'Birds' started by bobhoge, May 13, 2005.

  1. The Adelie Penguins have these blue eyes:

"There are only two kinds of penguins, white ones walking toward you, And black ones walking away from you"

Actually they are waiting to make a rush for the water to minimize losses to the Leopard Seal predators.

They nest in large groups, just waiting to be photographed:

Don't walk on the Penguin Highway! Since they nest in groups of up to 600,000, they have highways to move around. The red stain is from the krill that they eat.

Trip information is posted in Places to Shoot at:

Bob how did you and Nan stand that cold. Burrrrr

I will have to enjoy your trip through you images. I am not going there.

White front and Black back... LOLOLOL Great..

    Thank you

    Good shots
  3. Hi Gale,

It really was never that cold, about 25F at the lowest. I know that sounds cold to someone who lives in Florida year-round, but that is not bad for a northern winter.

Nan found really neat gloves that had a flap that folded over the fingers for extra warmth. The flap had a pocket for Hot Hands hand warmer packets that worked super.

You really would enjoy the trip and the photo opportunities available!
