Antarctica #8 - More Landscapes and Icescapes In Antarctica

Discussion in 'Landscapes, Architecture, and Cityscapes' started by bobhoge, May 13, 2005.

  1. A big iceberg with the "spotlight" on it:

This ice arch was at least 50 feet from the water. It looked very unstable:
Note I messed with this photo a long time to try to get rid of the purple. Another photographer posted his shots from film and they were also purple. I guess it really was purple!

Sunset in the ice south of Petermann Island:

Strange ice formations came in small sizes (note the edge of the zodiac):
And LARGE sizes (maybe 30 to 40 foot columns):
To SUPER SIZE (the little black spot in the lower right corner of the berg is a 10' Leopard Seal:

A sunset, with a nice green flash if you were there:

Information on the trip is posted in Places to Shoot at https://www.nikoncafe.com//forums/viewtopic.php?t=3916

Aaaah. This (plus Iceland) is one of the places I have dreamed of visiting for ever. All outstanding images, but the sunset is my fave. Please share a few more when you've time.
