Any Advantage to Dedicated Niose Reduction Programs?

  1. I asked this in another thread. but thought I'd start my own so as to not hijack that one. I see a lot of people using dedicated noise reduction software. Are there any advantages to these programs as compared to the NR capabilities in Photoshop or NX2?

Someone mentioned there was a speed difference. Is it significantly faster? And do the results really improve over the general photo editing programs to make it worth purchasing one of these programs?

  2. noise reduction

I have used this in nx2 and photoshop, really slow down the processing, use more than a little and photo looks like a watercolor.
I would also like to know if anyone has had better results with a separate noise reduction program
