Save your pennies, I will bet you he will still be asking $30,000 for that lens five years from now. I see they always have these expensive lenses up asking insane prices, but never seem to sell them.

The 360-1200 was on eBay a few days ago for $12,999. Doesn't appear it sold. That's one I'd actually consider if my pockets were deep enough...

Well once my flux capacitor is fixed and Libya settles back down so I can get some plutonium from some Libyans who own a VW Bus I'm going back to the 70's and ordering one brand new one for only 10,000 dollars.

That's not just with photography either, I've noticed the same thing with other stuff as well. Was just looking at something on ebay that the seller wanted $2900 for, when there were other auctions for the exact same item, also in brand-new condition, for $1500.

Nice lens, though. I'll take a 14-24 instead too, but it's cool to see "classic" lenses looking just like they did when new.

Q - Anybody have $30,000 to spend on a lens right now?

A - No, but many years ago I had $1,400 to buy a new Nikon 14mm F2.8 AF lens that I've been very happy with and still use a lot even today.

A 13mm f5.6 lens actually sold on eBay by auction last year for £11,434 (approx US$18,500) ......I think it was priced in Euros and I converted it before writing it down - so this is probably the nearest we can get to the true value of one of these lenses.
