It's the time of year the weather is improving so I cycle to work, it's a 20 mile ride along the Grand Union Canal and some rather nice country side... I took a few snaps along the way this morning. Show me yours!

My truck was out for repairs all last summer so i rode my mountainbike and motorcycle last year. its only a mile to work and a mile back, so its actually faster than driving because of traffic.

this summer i picked up a bike at a garage sale for cheap, cleaned it up a bit and now ride it to work. its a lot lighter and smoother than my mountain bike for sure.

What a great ride! I used to ride a road bike, but I'm in the same boat as Mitch. The roads around here are just too dangerous. Or maybe, I'm just getting smarter as I get older. I don't think I would get 1/4 mile, before being flattened by a truck. I even gave my carbon fiber bike away. I figured, someone should get some use out of it.

That has to be a really nice ride.

I live near Chicago and I am scared in a car. A bicycle no way.

Now they want to change the law to bicycles can run red lights, not right turn, just go thru after a stop. Total BS.

I think half the population is uncivilized and only care about themselves. The chances they take to gain 20 feet over the other traffic have to be seen to believed.

I'm fortunate to live in a relatively rural part of England but work in the city, the canal network allows me to avoid the mayhem on the roads.

Very nice bike trails. If my commute to work looks like that, I will sell my car and ride to work everyday. Roads in L.A. looks absolutely nothing like that.

What a nice scenery route.

My daily commute would be highly impractical by bike. Though it only takes 45 minutes from my house to my office, it is 74 kilometers (46 mi) one way.

I'll be riding my old KHS/Reynolds single speed to work starting in a few weeks. Bike, Lightrail, and bike, to work. Bike, Lightrail, and bike home from work - all while the wife stays at home pregnant, and then with the baby.

I think I might pack my camera a few of those days and get some shots along the way... particularly along the way home. Lightrail can be a sketchy place in San Jose these days. Mostly ex-cons, homeless folks, and a few college students.

If only I could ride a bike to work! I wish I could, but there's just no way. Looks like you have a lovely commute, though...

For me its easier and way faster to get by bike to the office. Its a 8km ride with a river crossing by a tunnel. When i leave by 8am by car,I might call myself lucky when I'm at the office by 8,30am.Not to mention finding a place to park.By bike its 15 minute easy going ride.I'm lucky to have a busline that stops almost at my door and at my office. It rides the same road as i do by car,but on a bus lane. takes 20 (ish) minutes.

I life in Dallas area metro-plex, and biking to work is impossibly dangerous through parts of my commute. Plus it is 12 miles one way. It is supposed to hit 101*F today, so even if I made it by bike without being killed, I would need a good shower/bath and a change of clothes - which is not practical in the office tower I work in. I would have to join a near-by health club to shower/change.

Safe bike trails would still tempt me- but they don't exist for most of this urban area I commute through. Also, the culture here is a problem. I have seen "road rage" incidents because people were upset about someone on a nice road-bike slowing down 1 lane of traffic on a 4 lane street (sad).

Well. I got anxious and couldn't wait. Here is a crappy cell phone pic. I'll get a better one for you tomorrow.
