thoughts, photos to share, whatever? ....hopefully a fine sample of this glass will be hitting my mailbox any moment now, so i'm obviously curious:cool:
  2. I just picked one up as a walk around lens for my wife to use...
I'm extremely impressed with the image quality from this lens.
I tested it on the d2x and d80 and images are sharp and with great color..
    definately a keeper...

Excellent, especially for the money. All that you've read about, but I love the focal range. And nice that its F4.5 @ 105mm.

    I recently sold mine:frown:
But I think I may get another.
Good luck and looking forward to seeing some of your shots.

This lens is permanently attached to my F100 and all I can say about the quality of this lens is WOW!! I use my F100 to shoot slides primarily and the fantastic exposure meter on the F100 coupled with the great quality of this lens has given me some very fine images.
  6. I bought one and a D50 for my daughter last year for her birthday. Although I can't say she takes advantage of all the 28-105 can do, her images are clear, with good color, and generally sharp. I have never tried it.

This was the second lens I bought for my D50. ( The first was the 50 1.8 )

I used it for my walk around lens for over a year and its one of my favorites.

This pic was taken by my wife who only shoots full auto.

I bought a used copy, LNIB from a local Nikon shooter right after I got my Nikon. It is my walkaround lens. I posted some flower shots from a local arboretum back in June, with a side by side coomparison of this lens @55mm to the 60mm 2.8 micro.

This is my walkaround lens on the F5... I don't use it much on the D200. I find the results excellent for a consumer grade zoom.

A few example shots on the F5 (scanned with the Coolscan V)

  11. I like it . . .

I'm partial to mine--it makes a great walk around lens when my corneas blow up and I'm stuck using AF. The macro function won't make you forget your real macro lenses, but it's handy for the odd time a need for a close-up pops up.
