Aperture or PS-enough ram?

Discussion in 'Apple/Mac' started by jantheman13, Aug 9, 2008.

  1. Hi, I'm a mac user ( imac G5 isite) with 1.5gb of ram. Is that enough to run either of these programs without a huge slow down? Another question, if you had to buy one or the other which would it be? I have PS Elements 3. Old but working. Any thoughts would be appriciated.

Check other world computing, OWC, They even give a slight rebate when you return your old RAM. Not much, but something.

I just bought a refurbed 20" iMac. It came with 1 gb of memory (2 512s.) The salesman said that the iMac only recognizes 3 gb of RAM. I replaced one of the 512s with a 2 gb stick. I'll be using the computer for a lot of Photoshop stuff. So far it's been great. As others have said, RAM is cheap. Get yourself a 2 gb stick. It takes about 3 minutes to replace the memory.

  5. I was running PhotoShop and LightRoom on a PowerMac G5 with 2.5Gig, and I would consider the RAM to be 'just about enough' - I upgraded to 4.5Gig and it handled things much better

Now I have a MacPro with 6.5Gig, and it flies
