One of the joys of living in this area is the long spring wildflower season. It begins in late March at lower elevations below 1800 feet and extends into June above 3500 feet.

Here are some early specimens from this morning in the valley about 1000 feet lower than where I live. All photos with D7000, lenses noted.

Trout lilies

Beautiful Jim. Really like them all. Our season is just getting started here. Looks like it could be a good one if the weather cooperates.

Thanks, Mike.

I like #5 - nice light and nice contrast with the old leaves, dark corners.

Jeepers - we just received 6" of snow last night - it's a bit odd to think of flowers in bloom!

Sean

Thanks, Sean. That's what you get for living in Montana! But I envy you in the summer.

Very nice, Jim...!

Over the next month we should see lots of wildflowers here in the NW starting to bloom
as well...

Thanks, Wizzard. I look forward to your posts.

wow, these are all beautiful!

Many thank, Dianne. Mother Nature is generous!

These are beautiful images, Jim. I would have preferred them just a wee touch warmer but that's my personal preference. So nice to see Spring flowers back with us again. Ours will be coming soon!

Thanks, Steve.

Beautiful!

Thanks, Chad.

Thanks, Sandi. Yours is an interesting comment about the color balance. I have been trusting the D7000 AWB for outdoor photos, but perhaps I should be using "Daylight". I'll try it and see if it looks more natural.

Beautiful shots really like the Bloodroot shots.

Dallas

Thanks, Dallas. They are beautiful little blossoms.

My pleasure, Bob. Seeing any of these in your area yet?

I'm starting to see the plants, but no flowers yet -- getting ready to go out again and try to beat the next storm system:smile:

Later Note: Found first spring beauty and first bloodroot today -- both obviously just opened
