To remember September 11th, a flag is placed in Memorial Park in Odessa, Texas for every person who died that day. The small lake in the center of the park is surrounded by ranks of flags, the ring walkway paralleled with rows of flags. Flags move in unison with each breath of air.

It’s a powerful and evocative sight.

And tonight, after sunset, at twilight’s last gleaming, the flags flutter in a light breeze and the day ends.

Your picture certainly caused a couple of powerful reactions from me John. First, I got chill bumps, and then I remembered the reason behind the display, and was very sad again, remembering that awful day.

The images of Memorial Park carry many resonances, powerful through the many flags proudly flying across the park, around the small lake, paralleling the walkway.

But in the midst of the painful memories and the somber moments, there is another image in this park...

... something that looks to a brighter future.

And I enjoyed seeing the sculpture of the young boy as I walked around the somber scene of the flags - a powerful juxtaposition of emotions.

    Thanks for the kind thoughts.

And yet, I still feel compelled each time to write, well, maybe not a thousand, but a lot of words about my shots.

    Thanks for the kind words.
