automatic or manuel

  1. just wondering... for birds do you guys shoot with manuel focus or auto focus.
i have been finding it hard using auto focus to get focused on a bird before he decides to take off... i have lost a bunch of good opportunities due to this.
is manuel focus better for bird photography???

what are the pro's/con's of manuel focus???

another Q- when shooting auto the bird you are trying to get in focus has to be right in the middle of the viewfinder so it gets focused on, but i no you never want the bird/focus point to be right in the middle of the photo... so do you just crop it so it isn't in the middle, or what?

    thanks for the help,

  2. Maual focus is almost useless in bird photography. You use AF-C and use the AF-on button at the back of the camera, not the shutter button. AF recompose then press shutter button. Oh and practice, practice, practice.
