I left Thursday afternoon because of the weather and forecast for Friday and it's airshow, I had contacted Frank (eng) and he said they weren't coming up from chicago on Thursday/Friday due to the lousy weather, I couldn't really stay till after Saturday, but thought I would let everyone know there was an aircrash on Friday,

two p-51 were landing in formation (as the pilots have been certified and trained with formation flying certicifcates) and the first plane landed first instead of the rear plane, which then caused the back plane to run into the front plane, rear one flipped over the front one, and landed upside down, the second plane also spun and landed upside down, and one of them burst into flames,

If the weather would have been good I would have been there at that time, for the pre show flybys,

Video of the event and crash found on aero TV

this is not my pic but a link to it on avweb,

    found a second pic,

Probably the best news article on the event is here:

Boy that is sad, hate to see or here of any plane crash and at a air show with little kids watching. That makes 2 P51's and F51 to crash this month with 2 pilots lost.

Wade that is terrible news...I probably like yourself was planning on going to an airshow a few months ago that had a fatality and declined due to the drive, the show was the Blue Angels in Beufort, SC and I was glad I didnt go.

My prayers go out to family and loved ones of the lost pilot.
  4. Always a sad day to lose someone in a environment that does not have margin for error.

Thank you for posting the links and update
  5. Wade,
I was there all day yesterday, Saturday. I talked to a guy who was right on the flight line when it happened. Very sad.
On an up beat note. I got alot of great pix and will post some soon!
