Back Lit Exoskeleton and Cicada

Yesterday there were only cicadas. Today there are also lots of exoskeletons left behind after the cicadas shed them. The scraggly, white material sticking out of the top of the exoskeleton is in all of the exoskeletons but I don't know what it is. It's dry and stiff just like the other parts of the exoskeleton.

Setup
The setup is so simple that no photo of it is needed. The tabletop is black, glossy, opaque acrylic. It appears black because it reflected the dark tones of the very dark room. A flashlight in the rear on the left back lit the subjects. A white reflector on the front right primarily brightened the cicada's wings and body. (No focus stacking was used.)
